We’ve had some interesting posters and promotional videos hitting Japan for the release of 47 Ronin, which gives a slightly different perspective on the film than how it’s marketed here. Now, with it being one of the big releases still set for a Christmas Day release, Universal has brought out a new trailer for the film starring Keanu Reeves along with a new domestic theatrical poster.  The latest comes in the form of a new trailer that has some additional footage in it as well as a pair of new theatrical posters for the film which definitely feel very Japanese.  Universal has a lot riding on the $175 million epic 47 Ronin that’s now slated for a Christmas 2013 release in North America and Japan. The feature, which stars Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi, is directed by Carl Rinsch.

Plot concept: From ancient Japan’s most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 Ronin is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.
