Kevin Feige Talks Recent Marvel Film Casting Rumors

2 min read

Marvel StudiosKevin Feige handles talking about rumors pretty well compared to some others who won’t even acknowledge that a rumor exists. With the recent news coming up about Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt being in the running for the lead role of Ant-Man, there’s been a lot of concern in all directions.

“Well, nothing is true yet.”

That’s certainly not surprising considering they do play casting pretty close to the chest until it actually lands in a way that they want it to. Casting has to pick up soon for a number of roles and there’s always been talk about JGL for some Marvel films, even more so after his stint in The Dark Knight Rises. He’s been attached as a potential lead for Guardians of the Galaxy and also a strong possibility for Doctor Strange, which is a big Kevin Feige title he wants to get done. And with Feige having extended his contract through the Phase Three portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can see him wanting to get that done before he closes the book on what will likely be one amazing run.

“Sometimes it’s because we are legitimately talking, sometimes it’s just because he’s a prominent actor out there now,” Feige said on the JGL rumors. “And lots of rumors surround prominent actors.”

One of the things Feige also touched on is the fact that while we have a lot of things said recently about Vin Diesel playing Groot for Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s still not official.

“I think it’s close,” Feige said. “I think it’s close to being official for the Groot character. But, not 100 percent yet.”
