Non Non Biyori Episode 2
GingaDaiuchuu: Come on, Hotaru, you’re not supposed to give the one male character even attention to actually introduce him.
So he’s the brother of the little senpai sisters, and Sensei is Ren-chon’s sister. So there are two — now three — families in this town? Man, I feel like I live in a city now.
EmperorBrandon: Hah, that’s exactly what I was thinking that scene. “Hotaru, you’re doing it wrong.” Guess she’s just too sweet to even ignore a very ignorable character. Speaking of Hotaru, though, it was interesting to see a new side of her, though, one that’s completely obsessed with her cute little senpai.
It really seems like Komari was a role that was made for Asumi Kana. Not only does she have the Yuno/Popura height insecurities, but she’s full of the Kaoru “don’t call me…” comebacks too.
stardf29: Hotaru has it really bad for Komari. Good thing she’s absolutely adorable while thinking of her.
Komari is definitely giving me Popura vibes, especially with the same seiyuu and Hotaru’s Souta-like reactions to her. She also has some great reaction faces, and it was funny seeing her not recognize the dressed-up Hotaru and mistake her for a grown-up. Their phone conversation afterwards must have been really awkward.
Momoka Kibi: Yes, I’ve been hoping for the anime to establish how much Hotaru “loves” her senpai. I’m fond of stuff like this in general, but the fact they chose Komari as the target of affection makes this the best choice they could have gone with to be honest.
I love how they end the episode with her making a doll of Komari. This on top of enjoying patting, the candy, the date (close enough), and everything else.
Sensuifu: Hotaru and Komari’s sampo to the candy store reminded me of the times I’ve done same when I was a kid. The candy shop (conveniently next to the General Store) wasn’t exactly that close of a distance as it was for them, but manageable on bike. Kind of sad to find it was no longer there the last time I passed the area a few years ago. Such an adorable, peaceful series, and definitely reminiscent when it portrays moments I could personally relate to.
