Gingitsune Episode 2 | TFP Review
EmperorBrandon: What a difference not keeping things bottled up inside makes for Funabashi. Yumi is not so mean as her initial attitude and choice of acquaintances let on, and though she didn’t say anything on it, I wonder if Funabashi mentioning her parents’ expectations kind of hit a soft spot with Yumi too since earlier she told Makoto she was having a fight with her parents (the reason she was wanting to stay over with Makoto). It was pretty sweet to see those three come together at the shrine.
This really reminds me how much I love Akasaki Chinatsu’s (who’s Yumi here) voice. There’s something about those roles of hers with a rougher edge (like Shinka in Chu2koi) that I really like. But she has such wonderful range, having heard her as lovably goofy Maki in Love Lab not too long ago.
Hitsugi Amachi: It was kind of predictable that Yumi would turn out to have a soft heart. After helping the kids with the cat in the first episode, how could she turn out to be a mean girl?
An interesting trio set up here, but what’s interesting is that her two friends are deliberately playing against type: both introduced as one set stereotype, but then quickly shown not to be such in reality.
I liked this episode more than the first one. Somehow less boring.
Buckeye: This episode, Gintaro didn’t get involved in this matter as Makoto approached this conflict pretty nicely. While Yumi didn’t exactly get along with Funabashi, it was not out of ill will unlike the way those jerks saw it. Overall, it is nice to see that these three girls are able to build new friendships, and especially for Funabashi to make friends. Right now, the fox spirit hasn’t done a whole lot, but a nice story is coming together as things are looking at the moment.
stardf29: The best part of this show so far is definitely the relationship between Makoto and Gintaro. Especially in this episode, while Gintaro might not have done anything directly to help Makoto, his being there for her to vent to is still very significant. And then at the end where she says that she’s already happy enough that she can see him, so she feels no need to ask for anything more, and then tells him she loves him… definitely a very sweet human/divine relationship.
