With $373 million in theatrical receipts worldwide from its run this summer, 20th Century Fox has set the home video details for The Wolverine. The film earned just 35% of its total in North America with the foreign take totalling $242 million, making it a stronger overseas player than it was here. Which is unfortunate as I felt the film did a whole lot right, including the fact that it was a very international cast with only one caucasian, the lead, in a land not populated by more caucasians. The home video release is slated for December 3rd with a 3D Blu-ray set, a standard Blu-ray set and a DVD set. There’s some real variations here, especiall ysince the “Unleashed” edition contains the first time an X-Men film has had an extneded unrated cut.

Inspiration – A Ronin’s Journey
Plot concept: Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in this sequel to the member of the X-Men’s first solo outing. Mark Bomback and The Usual Suspects’ Christopher McQuarrie penned the script, which takes its inspiration from the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller Marvel miniseries from the 1980s dealing with the character’s adventures in Japan as he fights ninjas in the ceremonial garb of the samurai.
