The Sankarea DVD/BD complete series from FUNimation is set to hit the shelves on October 1st, but for some folks who git them early, it’s been discovered that there’s an issue with the release. According to the eagle-eyed viewers who got their hands on the set, there appears to be some censoring on the video for the release. Details haven’t been mentioned at the moment as to what it is, but it’s basically a broadcast versus home video issue, something that really hasn’t cropped up in quite some time nor as frequently as it used to a decade ago. FUNimation sent off some information this afternoon about it:

In regard to the release of the Sankarea DVD & BluRay content, FUNimation had originally released this set with the materials provided to us. We will be receiving additional home video masters. Customers who wish to receive the unedited version may do so by emailing [email protected] along with a copy of your original receipt, and a physical mailing address (no PO Boxes please).

Once the replacement discs are authored we will begin to process your request. Thank You.

Right Stuf noted this as they handle a lot of FUNimation releases and had this to say about how they’re handling it at the moment.

We’re currently oversold on this title, and it is our guess that we won’t receive additional stock until this reauthoring occurs. If you have any concerns about this issue, please feel free to contact customer care.
