While we’re largely getting ready for the fall season, the summer season shows are gearing up for their home video release. The latest to highlight what’s going on is that of Senki Zessho Symphogear G, which was one of the few shows that didn’t get picked up for simulcast. The first commercial for it has landed and shows off the show in a pretty fun way.
FUNimation simulcast the first series, but the numbers must have been pretty bad to not stream the second or that anyone else didn’t either. The sequel series to the 2012 season is set to debut on DVD and Blu-ray starting on October 2nd with new volumes every month for a total of six volumes. The Blu-ray releases are priced at 6300 yen each while the DVD releases are priced the same at 6300 yen each, which is rare. The release is also changing things up by making the first five volumes regular edition releases overall with the sixth volumes being priced at 7350 yen for the limited edition aspects.
Plot concept: Two years ago, a pair of idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amou, collectively known as ZweiWing, fought against an alien race known as Noise using armor known as Symphogear. To protect a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who got severely wounded by the Noise, Kanade sacrificed herself. Two years later, as Tsubasa has fought the Noise alone, Hibiki ends up gaining the same power as Kanade.
