Fantsay style anime continues to be few and far between in general, though when we do get them there is sometimes a nice change of pace, such as the winter 2013 season series Maoyu. While that show didn’t overperform, it was a nice balance to some of the more traditional pieces. This fall we’ll be seeing Maoyu author’s other work, Log Horizon. The ongoing light novel series by Mamare Touno, which has several manga spinoffs as well, began in 2010 and has six volumes released so far as it deals with gamers trapped in an online world. The series is getting a Fall 2013 adaptation by Satelight with a planned twenty-five episode run, according to information released by Enterbrain. The company has also put out a second promotional video about the property, showing off the creative team as well as the animation.

Plot Concept: The story begins when 30,000 Japanese gamers are trapped in the fantasy online game world Elder Tale. What was once a sword-and-sorcery world is now the real world. The main lead Shiroe attempts to survive with his old friend Naotsugu and the beautiful assassin Akatsuki.
