Alan Taylor Possibly Set For ‘Terminator 5’

When it comes to the Terminator franchise, it’s pretty chaotic as the rights have moved about over the years and after Terminator: Salvation, they moved again and jettisoned everything else that was planned after that feature. The current word is that they’re potentially looking at kicking off a new trilogy and not necessarily rebooting it, but starting fresh in some other direction. Which is pretty easy to do with a time travel movie since you can shift timelines or just wipe the past clean.

What makes the next round interesting, which has Arnold Schwarzenegger saying he’ll be involved in some form and Dwayne Johnson potentially circling it, is that now we’re hearing that Alan Taylor may take on the directing duties for it. Taylor, who has long enjoyed a TV directing career, has done a couple of movies in the past. But it was his work on Game of Thrones that caught a lot of attention and brought him in to take over after Kenneth Brannagh for Thor: The Dark World. Now he’s being slotted in for the fifth Terminator installment, which would raise awareness of him even more, if it can be pulled off.
