Viz Media Releasing ‘One Piece: Strong World’ Manga One-Shot

2 min read

One Piece Strong WorldNews out of last weekends Japan Expo USA convention has been awkward at best as there wasn’t a whole lot of coverage in general, so news tidbits slid by and are popping up later in the week. The latest one to surface is that Viz Media announced at their panel there that they would be publishing the One Piece Strong World one shot manga chapter that was made specifically for moviegoers who saw the film back in 2009 and serves as a prequel to it. The chapter will be released in digital form next week on September 2nd in Weekly Shonen Jump. Nothing has been indicated as to whether it will get a print inclusion down the line in one of the ongoing volumes of the main manga series.

FUNimation has picked up the rights to the film itself and will be showing it at Anime Weekend Atlanta in September and releasing it on DVD/BD later in 2013.

Plot concept: Find out what the world of One Piece looked like 20 years ago in this bonus chapter! Gold Roger, White Beard and a ton of other legends battle it out in a time before Luffy was even born! Meanwhile, in the current series, what will happen when all-out war comes to the coliseum?
