While the controversies continue to ebb and flow along the sidelines for the moment now that the San Diego Comic-Con is out of the way and little attention will be paid to it all for a couple of months, a new and apparently final one-sheet poster has arrived for Ender’s Game. The November feature had a solid push that wasn’t too strong at SDCC which helped to soften the blow for some and some real and honest approaches to trying to smooth things over. The new poster gives us a good look once again at the uniforms and some of the key elements of the film but it also, surprisingly, keeps it very “star” free, so it doesn’t give you a human face to latch onto which could be problematic.
Plot concept: In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.
Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
I never did care for this book (cliche plot, Ender was more of a pansy than his sister…) but Harrison Ford bears a striking resemblance to Mark Harmon on this poster.
Mark Harmon’s modern claim to fame is playing a rather stoic, no-nonsense drill instructor. Ford is known for playing fast-quipping action heroes…
