2 min read

EvangelionWith the first Evangelion feature scoring just under a million viewers back in March when that feature debuted, you knew it was just a matter of time before Toonami came back with the second installment. Things like that don’t always happen quickly as there’s a lot of red tape and hurdles to cross, but now it looks like things have been settled. According to Toonami, when asked about having a “month of movies” like they did once before with Miyazaki features, they indicated that Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.22 : You Can [Not] Advance will be getting an August 31st premiere on the network. There’s also hints of a little bit more coming along with that, but that’s being deffered to another reveal.

Plot concept: In the earliest battles against the monstrous Angels, young Eva pilots Shinji and Rei were forced to carry humanity’s hopes on their shoulders. Now, with the deadly onslaught of the Angels escalating and the apocalyptic Third Impact looming, Shinji and Rei find their burden shared by two new Eva pilots, the fiery Asuka and the mysterious Mari. Maneuvering their enormous Eva machines into combat, the four young souls fight desperately to save mankind from the heavens – but will they be able to save themselves?
