Sony Unveils Nearly Four Minute ‘Elysium’ Extended Trailer

2 min read

ElysiumThough fans of District 9 are pretty keyed up for this release, Elysium is hitting in the summer doldrums period where it’s harder to get people out, especially as a lot of kids are starting to get things rolling with college relocation and more. To help try and draw people in more, Sony has created and let loose with a nearly four minute extended trailer for the film written and directed by Neil Blomkamp and stars Matt Damon and Jodie foster.

Plot Concept: In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

  1. And so another ironic “rich actors hating on rich people, who are all unequivocally evil” propaganda-tastic movie comes to theatres…this time with a timely message that US politicians who oppose amnesty/open borders and nationalized health care are evil and are fair game for violence. I can understand making a film against these things but when your movie shows that it is A-Okay to violently abuse anyone who espouses them I believe that the bounds of good taste have been exceeded.

The USSR would have paid a pretty penny to get its hand on propaganda like this.

Seriously, if these actors so despise the rich, and thus their own wealth, they can send their money to me to relieve themselves of that burden. I’ll take their hate if I get every cent of their filthy, filthy lucre (tax free) to go along with it. I will make that sacrifice, I will absolve any and all rich of their “sin” of having too much cash. I will be “The Giver” for you, only instead of seeing color or hearing music I’ll just hold your money in my wallet.

BTW, what was the last non-propaganda movie made by Damon?
