The official Tumblr of Toonami continues to be an interesting place to get the latest and greatest from the progamming block on Cartoon Network. Today they’ve revealed some of the changes coming up, such as how July 20th will see the end of ThunderCats for example, and that July 27th will bring back The Big O as well as serve as the premiere night for Sword Art Online. SAO will get its showing at 2am that night as it follows some very popular shonen titles. Check out the full new schedule for what that night will be like:

12:00a Bleach
12:30a Naruto Uncut
01:00a One Piece
01:30a Soul Eater
02:00a Sword Art Online
02:30a IGPX
03:00a Eureka 7
03:30a Big O Season 2
04:00a Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
04:30a Cowboy Bebop
05:00a Inuyasha
05:30a Inuyasha

Plot concept: In the year 2022, next-generation game Sword Art Online (SAO) is the world’s first true VRMMORPG. A virtual reality helmet known as “Nerve Gear” has been developed, making Full Dives into a virtual dimension possible. SAO has generated worldwide buzz, and on its official launch day, one player, Kirito, immerses himself in its virtual world. But Akihiko Kayaba, the developer of SAO, proclaims the following to all players. “This game is inescapable unless all levels are cleared. And in this world, ‘Game Over’ is equivalent to death in the real world.”

  1. Ugh really just bury the lead why don’t they. This is the kind of show you want on early. SAO actually has a chance to gain a wide market appeal more so than say Soul Eater. This should be on as the 1st or 2nd show in the line up.

Airing this late at night people are just going to think its a .hack rerun.
