The PA Works series Uchoten Kazoku hasn’t gotten too much attention but it’s getting ready to debut on July 9th, and that means it’s time to get a commercial out there for the broadcast audiences to see what it’s all about. The new series brings Masayuki Yoshihara into the director’s chair with a script by Shotaro Suga and character designs by Kousuke Kawazura. The original author will be known to a small but particular set of anime fans as one of his previous works was adapted into an anime with Tatami Galaxy, which was simulcast by FUNimation but has not been picked up for home video release in North America.
Plot Concept: In Kyoto, there are three kinds of residents: humans, raccoon dogs, and tengu. Shimogamo Yasaburou is the third son of the Shimogamo raccoon dog family. His father, Souichirou, had been the head of Kyoto raccoon dog community until he was eaten by the human members of “Friday Club”. While taking care of old tengu, fighting with other raccoon dogs, and playing with a psychic human girl, Yasaburou approaches the truth of his father’s death.
