First Look At ‘Ghost In The Shell: Arise’ Anime Blu-ray Packaging

With FUNimation having announced the pickup of Ghost in the Shell: Arise this weekend and their plans for 2500 volumes to be released in the US subtitled-only while a full bilingual release will come later, we’ve got a look at what should be the packaging and design for the title. The 50 minute show, which has an additional seven minutes of features, is set to have Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1, Japanese 2.0 PCM and Japanese, English and Traditional Chinese subtitles. The on disc features are expected to be at least the basics in the promo videos, teases and trailers. The release, at least in Japan, is priced at 7,140 yen, which is equal to  $75 US at the moment at current exchange rates.

FUNimation has not detailed how the release will be available in the US or its pricing, but it’s easy to expect that it will mirror this Japanese release. Check out the full cover art discussion here.

Plot Concept: In this prequel set one year after the fourth World War, cyborg and hacker extraordinaire Motoko Kusanagi from the military’s 501st Secret Unit finds herself wrapped up in the investigation of a devastating bombing.
