‘Teen Titans Go!’ Gets Second Season Renewal

2 min read

Teen TitansWell, this one is only going to anger a segment of the fans a good bit more. After the few weeks of episodes we’ve had so far, Teen Titans Go! has gotten a second season renewal notice based on the strength of it’s 7:30 PM showings on Tuesday evenings. The series has been getting a second showing on Saturday mornings with the DC Nation block on Cartoon Network and is expected to get more of a boost when it’s joined by Beware the Batman.

The show getting a second season renewal so early is frustrating for fans of shows like Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which seemingly went down to the wire and had to contend with poor broadcast schedules. The series has also proven controversial for fans of the previous Teen Titans series, even though the voice cast has returned, because it comes across as something that not only doesn’t do justice to the original, but takes away from what it accomplished.

We’ve been enjoying the series for what it is, and the three kids in my house adore it and the silliness of it, but it’s definitely not the kind of show that can step into the shoes left by the first two DC Nation shows.

Series concept: Teen Titans Go! focuses on the “funny business” that happens between the Teen Titans when not saving the world and when living together as teenagers without adult supervision. The Teen Titans must deal with situations such as teenage pranks reaching a whole new level, or having to retake a driver’s test after wrecking the Batmobile.
