Star Wars Thursday: May The Fourth Edition

2 min read

Star Wars May 1Welcome to this week’s edition of Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of all things fun, wild, and wacky in the Star Wars universe!

If you are a Star Wars devotee, or know someone else who is, you probably know the significance of the 4th of May. Actually, if you are on any social networks at all you may have been on “May the 4th be with you” overload. When you combine Star Wars Day with Free Comic Book Day – you have a perfect storm of geeky delight.

I wore one of my favorite Star Wars shirts from Her Universe because my family refused to be seen with me in an actual costume.

Before my family hit our local comic book store, I took some time to read a few Star Wars books and comics. I had read Darth Vader and Son when it first hit the shelves, but it’s always worth a reread. Vader’s Little Princess is a new release, and I saved it to read Saturday. While it wasn’t quite as amazing as the first, it is absolutely worth adding to your bookshelf. My sons both loved it, and grinned as they found all the allusions to the movies. I’ve heard that Jeffrey Brown plans to write his next book about life in middle school. The trade of Dawn of the Jedi was also wonderful, though it did slow down in parts. Sadly, I ran out of time to read Star Wars and History. My local library is going to make a mint on me with late fees on that one!

I’m not much of a home decorator, but I’m strongly considering grabbing one of these signs to liven up the place for next year. Brought to you from the Etsy shop of DiamondDustDesigns.

Not everyone was thrilled about the day long celebration! The Empire wanted to have their own say, and shared the “ugly truth” about the Jedi we know and love.

Don’t forget that you can celebrate Star Wars love any day, but May the Fourth is something extra special. Until next week – may the FORCE be with you!
