Discotek Media continues to add more surprising titles to its varied library with news that they’ll be bringing out Monster Rancher. The series ran in Japan back in 1999 and saw broadcast on Fox Kids and had some episodes released, dub only, on DVD by ADV Films. Discotek Media is taking a two tiered approach as they can’t do a true bilingual set due to edits and cuts. Episodes 1-26 in dub form will arrive in December 2013 while English dubbed seasons 2 and 3 boxsets will come in 2014, along with a complete Japanese language English subtitled 1-73 boxset also in 2014.
Plot concept: Genki is a boy who loves playing video games. One day he’s zapped into the world of Monster Rancher and meets the girl Holly and the monsters Mochi, Suezo, Golem, Tiger and Hare. Together, they are searching for a way to revive the Phoenix, which is the only monster capable of stopping the evil Moo.
