While all eyes are on the April premiere of A Certain Scientific Railgun S, it looks like Kadokawa in Japan may finally be getting the previous series set up for a Blu-ray box set release. The series ran for twenty-four episodes back in 2009 to 2010 and FUNimation is getting ready to release it this month on DVD in North America, following up the same pattern as A Certain Magical Index. Neither series has had Blu-ray releases for this market due to restrictions from Japan. So keeping an eye on the Japanese releases can provide an idea of when we may see a release here, which is likely at least a year away. No details were offered in the radio show in which was talked about while promoting the new series, but a mention of it is as close to official as you can get with these things until the solicitation hits.
Plot concept: Misaka’s electro-manipulation abilities – and delightfully destructive Railgun projectile move – make her a rock star in Academy City. The techno-metropolis is packed with supernaturally powered students known as espers, including Misaka’s flirty friend and roommate, Kuroko. She uses her teleportation skills as a member of the Judgment law enforcement team, fighting crime alongside her fellow agent Uiharu.
Joined by their friend Saten, a spunky Level 0 esper, Misaka, Kuroko, and Uiharu have a blast taking on danger whenever and wherever it arises. Luckily, in a city full of super-powered gangs, mad scientists, and the occasional weird monster, the girls have no problem finding plenty of excitement, action, and adventure!

I wish they would all stop making dvds and make everything BD.
