While Zoe Saldana has a pretty Earth-bound career with films like Colombiana, she’s also becoming the go-to actress when it comes to science fiction films. With Heat Vision reporting that the actress is in talks to take on one of the main characters in the form of Gamora, she would add the science fiction superhero series Guardians of the Galaxy to go alongside her roles in the Star Trek and Avatar franchise, cementing her place within the comics and genre movie fanbase for decades to come.
“Saldana would play Gamora, the green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. She also happens to be a skilled assassin.”
The film, which is scheduled for release on August 1st, 2014, is expected to start production in June, which means casting will finish over the next couple of months. Chris Pratt was recently cast as the lead with Star-lord while Dave Bautista has taken on the role of Drax the Destroyer for the Phase Two section of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
