As the series inches closer to its completion, the main storyline has to be drawn back into the picture again, which is why Kon was actually called there. After several minutes of just plain uninteresting and somewhat goofy material, the truth is revealed to Kon again as the young woman that he’s quite got the hots for tells him about how she brought him there because of his abilities to deal with the behind the scenes person that wants to bring the final war to this world, bringing nothing but doom for all. With a good reward promised for it, he’s definitely interested even if it means he can’t collect it until things are done and over with. Which is pretty natural, but Kon has that greedy side to him as well.

What the mystery woman brings to the table is a bit of an info dump as she catches up with the rest of Kon’s group along with Erec’s as they all end up in the same place. Well, info dump is giving it too much credit as there’s basically two or three sentences about an ancient race called the Ixions who had an amazing power and used it to create a lot of things but also the potential for great catastrophe. With both sides now aware of what’s going on with how the archbishop was intending to use this Ixion technology to advance things for his own particular plot, it makes it clear to Erec and his group that they really have been working for the wrong side all this time.

What will help this group as they come together to deal with what’s to come is that there’s an absolute treasure trove of alma devices there, which will give them some solid weapons to use in the coming fight. Of course, getting Ecarlate involved in all of thi sis just going to make things even sillier as it progresses since she’s going over the top with her abilities as she even gets three licks of hair going straight up. But there’s some great weapons to be had there and things get pretty serious, though there’s some amusing touches of comedy to it as well with how Erec watches it all unfold to the way they use money to get the weapons out of the machine. There’s some amusing gags that come from it, but the episode mostly is just about repositioning everyone for the final arc to get underway.

In Summary:
With the uneven nature of the series, you never know what you’re going to get with it. The previous episode made me want to bang my head against the desk pretty hard while this one at least had some of the larger plot material to it and started to tie back to the very beginning. And it cleared up Pet’s role a bit, though it still feels like there’s some conflicting elements to that. I did like that Erec and his group finally realized that they were being played on some level and that there is common ground to be found with Kon and his group. And I did like that the whole alma devices thing was one big toy machine in its own way since it’s just the right kind of silliness that makes you roll your eyes but still chuckle a bit. But I also dislike that it took this many episodes to actually get here since there were some awful, awful episodes along the way and I can’t help but to feel that there may still be more in the offing before it comes to completion.
