In a move that’s bound to bleed out a few anime fans, it appears that the anime producer behind Aria is gearing up to bring the series to Blu-ray. Details are painfully non-existent at this point based on the meager amount of information provided, but the reading of it indicates that plans are definitely in the works for the show. Any release of the show is bound to be expensive in collected form as it will be for an older series like this as even the DVD releases were priced between 20,000 and 35,0000 yen a season depending on the length. The process of getting this series to Blu-ray is done via a bit of a contest format, which was how Toradora made its leap to Blu-ray previously according to some commenters on the discussion, but indications from the updated Japanese page seem to make it more of a done deal.

Plot Concept: Akari Mizunashi, at the age of 15, has left everything behind to travel to a sparkling planet covered in water, Aqua. More than anything, Akari wants to be an “undine” – a female gondolier who navigates the canals of the Aquan city of Neo-Venezia. As she begins her training with the prestigious Aria Company, will she be up to the challenges that await her on the path to achieve her dream?
