While most networks are focusing on pilots for the next season and starting to figure out what to renew, The CW has made three pickups today for the fall season. Arrow tops the list as it gets a second season which is good news for Supernatural as that series has had its ratings go up as it airs after Arrow. The CW also gave an early nod to The Vampire Diaries as it continues to do well and as the network checks out the potential for a spinoff for the fall as well. Arrow is lifting several boats as the story goes as the series premiere was the most watched show on the network since 2009 and hits the right demos and is also quite high in social media penetration. Because of how Arrow is performing, it’s given a 15% boost for Supernatural overall compared to the previous season.

“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit Arrow and fan favorite Supernatural on Wednesday night, and the continued success of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “Not only do Arrow, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially.”
