Quite probably one of the best shows to fit in to the Toonami block of Adult Swim on Cartoon Network is Soul Eater and that’s set to happen. According to the latest updated on the TV Guide website, the series is set to debut on February 17th at 1:30 am and will take over after Samurai 7 finishes out its run. Cartoon Network confirmed this news and noted that there will be a promo about it in the coming week.

Soul Eater has been in the FUNimation stable for a few years now and has had multiple DVD releases and multiple Blu-ray releases as well, culminating in the most recent complete collection this past November. Yen Press is releasing the manga and the spin-off series Soul Eater Not!. The original manga began by Atsushi Okubo in Monthly shonen Gangan  back in 2003 and has twenty-three compiled volumes to dte and is still ongoing. The TV series aired from 2008 to 2009 alongside three games being released, one for the Wii, one for the Nintendo DS and one for the Sony PSP.

Series Concept: Maka is a Meister and Soul is her Weapon. As students at the Grim Reaper’s Death Weapon Meister Academy, their study habits couldn’t be more different. But in battle against the supernatural forces of evil, they’re a freakin’ lethal team. That’s when Soul transforms literally into a razor-sharp scythe, and every defeated wicked soul he sucks down makes him more deadly. That’s when Maka unleashes the merciless slayer within, wielding her partner and dropping monsters. Seriously. Monsters. Like the witches, werewolves, and zombies that lurk in the shadows and feed on the souls of the innocent. Every freakish ghoul Maka and Soul take out strengthens their bond, and fighting alongside their fellow Meister/Weapon classmates, Maka and Soul are the world’s last line of defense against evil.
