With Biscuit, who prefers to be called Bisky, having made her play to work with Gon and Killua, she’s certainly attempting to call the shots. The boys are amusing in this as they talk about how they already have someone to teach them the important elements of Nen in Wing, but what we learn is that Bisky is actually his teacher. And she hasn’t seen him since he was a little boy, which is an adorable image. The teacher of their teacher is one thing that’s hard to pass up though, even with her personality and domineering way, but the whole relationship aspect of it just adds something rather adorable to it all. Bisky isn’t someone that I connected with early on in her introduction in the show because of her personality, but she’s definitely the type that the more you know of her, the more fun she is to watch in seeing how she interacts with everyone else.

The relationship that forms between the three is interesting since she’s so superior in a lot of ways, and rightly so because she’s got the skills to back it up. The two of them are cocky in their own way and don’t want anything to do with her, but through a bit of action that happens, she gets to make the point clearly about their level of ability and what it is that she can bring to the table in order to get them on the right track. What really solidifies things though is that Bisky knew Gon’s father, Ging, some years ago and has a certain affection for him. That sort of connection is enough t get her to pause in her stated treasure quest that she’s on and allows them to work together for the time being since it’s something that she feels is right to do based on Gon’s lineage.

The show does spend a bit of its time on the action side as Bisky works a method of teaching them with a creative bit of training by utilizing the bounty hunter that tried to take her down. Because of the difference in his and her levels, she sets it so that he can’t leave the crater they’re in for two weeks and that gives the other two a chance to train. And train hard they do. It puts the bounty hunter in a real pinch, but his recuperative powers just end up causing it all to be drawn out. For the boys, it’s a chance to really work at their in-game skills when it comes to fighting and that provides them with what they need. But there’s some deeper issues going on with the bounty hunter as well, as we get a touch of his past in order to humanize him, and that works out well. But you can’t help but to feel that he’s abused in a pretty significant way here because of what Bisky sets up and how the boys follow through with it.

In Summary:
With Bisky now taking on a mentoring position of sorts for Gon and Killua, there’s definitely some fun to be had there because of the personalities involved and just how Bisky looks. She’s got a certain domineering streak about her to be sure and she uses her sense of power and self to get what she wants in a way that, while it does work out on some level, also just feels cruel as well. What I liked is that they tied her to the past and to Gon in a good way with how she knew Ging in the past, which adds to her own participation in the game and a good connection to father and son. I also really liked that we get an idea of how long she’s been hanging around in here due to her knowing Wing as well and getting to see a young version of him when he was a pupil. Bisky’s not the easiest character to get on with, but she has her appeal to be sure and fits in with the Greed Island world well.
