The start of the new year when it comes to home video sales and rentals has hit and it’s pretty much a holdover from what we had seen before, with only two new releases making the sales chart. The topper is a new one, shifting the top titles around a little bit, as Looper has scored the number one spot in its first week with ease, pushing back on Ted and Pitch Perfect, which have held onto the top spots for the last three to four weeks. The other new arrival this week that charted is Justified Season 3, which came in at the number five spot. Everything else is relatively recent titles in December outside of Brave, which has been on the chart for eight weeks now.
The rental chart is largely the same as past weeks with the exception of Looper taking the top spot. The list continues to be films that people want to see but not own, or at least in big enough numbers to chart after the first week or two of release. There are some good ones to check out here, though Sony tends to dominate this area with their films as they have seven of the top ten rental spots.
