As Poyopoyo comes to a close, we get something here that really does hit him for many people when you get down to it. While Moe is out having an ice cream with Poyo in tow, they end up coming across a strange dog which has Poyo defending Moe and getting into quite a fight. A fight that separates him from her and he ends up on a truck out of town. Moe’s panic is palpable as she runs everywhere looking for him and everyone else in the show turns up to look as well. We see that side of it and Poyo’s adventures away from Moe which is just heartbreaking to see. Of course, everything comes back together but there’s so much emotion wrapped up in Poyo and Moe when they’re separated that it’s just beautiful to watch. And it hits the comedy well too, especially when the Doctor shows up and Papa Sato is displeased with how he sees him and Moe getting along.

In Summary:
With Poyopoyo coming to a close, the series caps off in a beautiful way. From how it started with Moe finding Poyo and bringing him home with her to the way they’re separated here with the potential of not getting back together, it just reinforces the bond in a great way. As a final episode for the series (for now?), it hits a lot of great notes and really makes you love it all the more. The series as a whole has been pretty much the first thing I watch every Sunday morning and waking up to Poyopoyo has made 2012 a great year for me in that way. Poyopoyo has worked a lot of stories, a lot of humor and some great heart. The Sato family is exactly who you want to know and spend time with in real life. Definitely one of those series that you desperately wish would get picked up since its total run time is just two and a half hours and is the kind of show that you’d love to hear a great dub of.
