After taking some time off in 2008, Will Smith came back in 2012 with Men in Black 3 and is set for next year with two films, After Earth and Winter’s Tale. After Earth hits first with a June 7th, 2013 plum spot as he stars along with Jaden Smith, Zoe Kravitz and Isabelle Fuhrman in the M. Night Shyamalan directed feature based on the script by Gary Whitta, who had some success with The Book of Eli.
Plot Concept: A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
