With Bryan Singer having come on formally in the last few weeks to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past, he’s certainly getting some attention beyond just that instance. Today he provided two tweets, one expected and on unexpected. The return of the principal cast of the series with James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender along with Nicholas Hoult wasn’t in any real doubt considering how their contracts were written. The surprise comes from the other tweet in that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are coming back to the franchise for another run at their characters. It makes a lot of sense story wise since this is a past/future film based on the very popular comic storyline, but getting both of them is quite a coup rather than aging up the existing actors and not giving a nod towards those who defined them film-wise previously.
Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @sirpatstew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come…
