One of the bigger frustrations fans of The Walking Dead have had is the lack of a certain character named Tyreese. While we all knew T-Dawg was not going to fill that role and they ended up giving him more of a personality after his death, we’ve mostly been kept happy by the creation of Daryl, a TV original character that has won quite a following since we’ve gotten to know him. But as the prison arc continues on in the third season, there’s still that lingering question of where one of the bigger and more enjoyable characters of the story is. The show has certainly deviated from the books in a lot of ways that have generally worked out well and kept fans guessing, but it’s hewed to a lot of aspects that have surprised as well. But Tyreese is one of the mysteries.
Now, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the third season mid-season finale due out on December 2nd will introduce a new character according to Robert Kirkman. “A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that.” While Kirkman is playing coy as to who it is, as he does love that game, the articles does have a hint that if it is Tyreese, there’s a good chance that we know who the actor for it is. While many were surprised by the revelation of the actress for Michonne being such a well kept secret, reports in Atlanta have showed that Chad Coleman of The Wire has been seen around there. With just a few weeks until the mid-season finale, we’ll know one way or the other, but Coleman would definitely be an ideal choice.
