‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ Script Treatment Completed

2 min read

Coming as a shock to no one who understand how things work, it’s been revealed that screenwriter Michael Arndt has completed his treatment for Star Wars: Episode 7 for Lucasfilm. With Disney having made the announcement upon acquisition that a new feature would land in 2015, it wasn’t something they’d do without some of the groundwork being laid down. With Lucas himself saying he’s turned over his original treatments for the third trilogy but was going to be hands off and consulting only, it also makes sense that things would progress quickly, especially with Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill already being approached and Harrison Ford showing some interest as well.

According to the piece at Vulture, Arndt has completed a 40-50 page treatment for the first part of the new trilogy and is expected to be the leading person to be brought in to do the full script. Arndt’s past credits are certainly intriguing for a film of this nature as he’s won an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine and was nominated for one with Toy Story 3. Any full script would be done more in conjunction with a director being brought in who would want their own flair and polish added to it, and the report indicates that such intriguing names as Brad Bird, Steven Spielberg, and J.J. Abrams are on the list that Disney wants to work with for it.
