‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Series Character Descriptions Surface

2 min read

Take this with a grain of salt to some degree, but the character descriptions for the hoped for S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series have come to light. With Marvel Studios keen to expand their universe and Disney’s ABC network looking to beef up their overall line-up with something to tie into that movie universe, there’s a lot of hope that this pilot, written by Whedon and his usual crew, could be potentially big. TV Line has gotten what looks to be the basic idea behind the main cast that would essentially be used for call sheets for actors.

SKYE: This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.

AGENT GRANT WARD: Quite the physical specimen and “cool under fire,” he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.

AGENT ALTHEA RICE: Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.

AGENT LEO FITZ and AGENT JEMMA SIMMONS: These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.

All of which, to quite a few people it seems, reads like a slightly tweaked Firefly cast. That could certainly work. But it’s also an area where you know Marvel Studios works with a fair bit of secrecy in what they do and Whedon has admitted in the past to using some seriously faked casting ideas to do the real testing with.
