Matt Reeves Set For ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Feature

1 min read

The short list was revealed only recently with a few people in content, but it looks like things have moved quickly as expected as Matt Reeves will direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. After Rupert Ryatt exited from the feature after directing the first one, Fox has been on the hunt to get someone into this position so they could handle the 2014 release date that they have planned for May 23rd of that year. Reeves comes off of some good credits, though he’s largely known for Cloverfield. He’s currently attached to the Twilight Zone movie, though word is that he’s dropped out, and most recently directed the English language adaptation Le Me In.

A sequel was pretty much a given since Fox wants to get the franchise rolling again and the first feature made $483 million theatrically in its worldwide release. The esquel, penned by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, moves forward with what the first did and takes it to its next step.
