‘Don Dracula’ Tezuka Anime Gets Hulu Distribution

1 min read

Hulu has added yet another Tezuka Productions series to its slate via partnership with Viki in the form of Don Dracula. The eight episode series is available in full now on the service in subtitled form with each episode running twenty-five minutes in length. The show is based off of the three volume manga by Osamu Tezuka that ran in 1979 and was produced as an eight episode TV Series that was done in 1982, but only four of the episodes were ever broadcast due the sponsoring company going out of business. The other four eventually became available on DVD in Japan years later. The original manga ran as a companion piece of sorts in Weekly Shonen Champion during its run with Black Jack, giving Tezuka something completely different to work with since it was all slapstick in nature.

Plot Concept: A big Japanese trading company buys a house in Romania and ships it back to Nerima, Tokyo, but the vampire Don Dracula, his daughter Chocola, and his servant Igor are living in the house.
