With the good cast of characters here, it’s always amusing when it does some more specific focus on the core ones and expands things. One of the things I really enjoyed recently is when they gave us a look at the varied types of penguins and how their names came about over the years with how they were discovered. That kind of comes into things again here as we see some more penguins brought into the show and there’s confusion about who is who and what type they are. It can get confusing easily since there seems to be so many variations. And when you add in someone like Panda with them, playing a card game or trying to figure out how to play the card game, you just want to shake your head.

As it goes on and others in the cafe get involved bit by bit, there’s more gags to be had and a greater lack of understanding of the game in general. With them trying to figure out how to promote the card game that they have, it just keeps hitting all sorts of problems. Panda’s innocence plays into things well here since he’s the one that ends up starting to win a bit as it goes on and that just frustrates the others since its their game. The devil is in the details though as it unfolds and we see a whole lot more about the variation in penguins and you can easily understand why Panda is starting to wonder whether the game is actually fun or not. (hint: it’s not – though it’s fun to watch unfold here).

The second half has Penguin talking about a lot of his problems with Penko and the other girls, which is certainly causing a lot of trouble for him. Describing a dinner date that he went on with all of them, it showed how impossible it was to remember who was who as he kept screwing up the names since they all look identical. Which makes sense since he never noticed when they worked in the story before. It’s cute as he does finally get some help from the others in the cafe with how to tell them apart, but it’s something where he simply doesn’t get it but thinks that he does. Everyone just feels kind of sad for him, but there’s also that desire to see how it all plays out. The details of it are definitely amusing and you almost think he’s going to pull it off, but things go in the way that they always seem to go for Penguin, which certainly produces laughs.

In Summary:
With a heavy focus on all things penguin here, the show has a lot of good fun as we get a good bit of variety with all the types in the first half with the game and then getting all the girls that are interested in Penguin together for the second half. Each offers something different with a large group of penguins, made more so in the first half by so many included on the cards, that you have to grin at the complexity of it all. For Penguin, his situation is one that definitely makes you laugh as he deals with so many women in his life and the problem of not being able to identify any of them, yet still being in love with Penko while not really knowing who she is. It’s simple but very effective.
