Discotek Media Adds ‘Hurricane Polymar’ Anime License Rescue

2 min read

Discotek Media has added a new license today and it’s a license rescue of a show that the majority of fans probably didn’t even know was previously licensed. Set for release next year, Discotek Media will bring out the two part Hurricane Polymar OVA from 1996/1997 that Urban Vision had released on VHS. The show never received a DVD release from the company prior to its ending. There was an Italian DVD release in 2010. The release from Discotek will contain the Japanese language track with English subtitles but will also bring out the English language dub that was created by New Generation Pictures for the previous 1998 US release.

The OVA was an updated remake of the original 1974 TV series which ran for twenty-six episodes for Tatsunoko Productions and the main character appeared in the 2008 Wii game release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars.

Plot Concept: Straight out of tokyo plus, a high-Tech research center, arrivesa new innovation of “MAN-MACHINE” system, polymar, developed by the late dr. Oregar. Tragically, dr. Oregar and his efforts are dematerialized as the catsharks, loyal subjects of nova, steal this new technology for their own devious plans.
