If there’s a character that’s stealing this show, it’s the female teacher that Chitose has. Just the opening bit alone where she describes just how different she and Chitose is, reinforcing the Chitose is indeed a child, it’s done with such laughter on her part that causes her chest to bounce a great deal that you have to laugh and love it. It’s cruel for a teacher to do it, but it works and fits for how she has to deal with Chotise. Not that her life is all good all around as we see that she’s having a little trouble with clothes, having, um, grown a bit around the waist, and that has her all concerned on a few different levels. Amusingly, with her in a dress, it turns into a rather quiet but biting moment with Chitose who herself comes in wearing a similar dress. A lot is left unsaid, but the viewer fills in the blanks perfectly.
In Summary:
The more I watch this, the more I keep feeling like I shouldn’t be enjoying it since it is a bit cruel. The previous episode didn’t flow well for me in the way it jumped around in the narrative, but that’s pretty cleaned up here in the third episode as it keeps its focus small but still dabbles with a few characters. I’m coming away from this show with some feelings where this is going to be wrong yet funny while hoping that it goes very, very wrong in order to be hilarious. It has the potential and its short form nature can definitely keep it in just gag territory.
