The SMASH! 12 convention is underway down in Australia and that means it’s time for some new license announcements that will make fans happy. Madman kicked things off with a very positive bit of news via Twitter that the company has picked up the rights for the Mahoromatic: I’m Home special, Shangri-La and Strike Witches 2. The company didn’t have any release plan details, but it’s expected that all three will have the dubs as seen in the US releases from Sentai Filmworks and FUNimation respectively.
Mahorotmatic: I’m Home – As Mahoro’s life timer rapidly approaches her two hundred and fiftieth day, a more joyous chronological observance occurs to distract her: the 120th anniversary of the founding of the town of Hiryushi. As part of the celebration, Suguru, Miyuki, Hamaji, and several other friends have come up with the perfect tribute: a Maid Cafe! Unfortunately, their Maid Cafe may end up completely Maid-less, as Mahoro and Minawa are attacked by Management forces under the command of Feldrance!
Shangri-La– In the distant future, earthquakes and the effects of global warming have splintered Japanese society. Some struggle hand-to-mouth in the jungle-tangled ruins of civilization. Some live comfortably within the closed-off city of Atlas. Others lurk online, anonymously hacking the global economy. As nature grows more violent and the divide between classes expands, one spirited girl, Kuniko, must face her destiny and lead her people into the utopia of Atlas.
The city’s ruthless government isn’t going to welcome them with open arms, but Kuniko won’t give up until the gates of Atlas are kicked open for good – even if it means discovering that the promised land she dreamed of is built upon a foundation of twisted secrets and lies.
Strike Witches 2– The lovely ladies of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing are back to battle a new breed of alien invader! The extraterrestrial menace known as the Neuroi have returned to Earth, and even a direct hit won’t stop these monsters. The Strike Witches are Earth’s last line of defense, but they’ll have to learn some new tricks to survive this dogfight – and win the war on pants once and for all!
