Crunchyroll Adds ‘Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi’ Anime Simulcast

Crunchyroll has announced a new simulcast series for streaming this week with news that they’ll be bringing out UTAKOI, aka Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi. The series was announced this morning with the first episode available as of this past Sunday, so it’s already online and ready to go. The series, based on the 100 romance poems, will be available for streaming in USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

Plot Concept:  UTAKOI is a historical romance story based on Ogura Hyakunin Isshu’s interpretation of a collection of 100 romance poems that are used in traditional Japanese karuta card/memory game. UTAKOI is a very liberal interpretation of the Hyakunin Isshu anthology of poems featuring 100 romantic poems from 100 different poets such as The Tale of Genji’s Murasaki Shikibu.
