‘Bodacious Space Pirates’ Getting Anime Feature Film

After series director Tatsuo Sato showed up at Anime Expo last night and making a knowing hint to fans that they should watch until the end of the final episode, it was announced (in Japan’s broadcast only) that while the TV series has ended, there are more adventures ahead for the crew. Details are nil at this point but it was announced via the series, Twitter and the official website that a feature film will be produced for Moretsu Pirates, aka Bodacious Space Pirates. The original works are light novels from Yuichi Sasamoto that began back in 2008 and have eight volumes released so far and the TV adaptation just completed its twenty-six episode run from studio Satelight. A new manga series was launched earlier in June as well in Japan with Sasamoto writing while Hiro Toge is illustrating it for Nico Nico Asahi Comic Fantasy.
