Questioning Fandom: Financing Your Anime Dream

2 min read

The time has come. You’re not just financially independent, you’ll never have to think about money again and can essentially finance anything when it comes to anime. Well, at least after this (mildly not safe for work).  What would you do? Bring a particular hard to find license over, dub it and release it in high definition? What series or movie? Create something fresh and new to market? Adapt something once you buy the rights? What would you do for yourself that would also benefit other anime fans?

The one that always comes to mind for me is that I would completely fund some lavish box sets, full dub and adaptation of the Legend of Galactic Heroes. It would be a super pet project that bring to fruition that would help achieve essentially the only thing in anime that I want do that will seemingly never happen.

The other is that I would fund a multi season, massive ongoing One Piece style scale Star Wars anime series. Both because I think they can flesh out the universe in a huge way using all the books and resources available. But also because it would piss off so many purists in both camps. But it would make me truly pleased beyond words.
