Welcome to this week’s edition of Star Wars Thursday, a celebration of all things fun, wild, and wacky in the Star Wars universe!
May the Fourth… a day where all Star Wars fans – boys and girls – try to play “one up” with their extravagant celebrations. I was out of my regular work building that day, and many students expressed disappointment that they didn’t get to wish me a “May the Fourth Be With You!” Yes, I was all dolled up for the day. I had brand new Leia earrings, hand crafted classic Marvel comics shoes, and a retro Empire Strikes Back tee shirt. Yet my efforts paled in comparison to the masterpieces I’m sharing here today. There is something for everyone on Star Wars Day.
We begin our journey with an edible creation. No simple cupcakes or lightsaber candies today – oh no! My favorite geeky food blogger – Just Jenn – posted her severed wampa arm cake recipe. Doesn’t that make you want to dig right in?
The official Star Wars blog had a variety of e-cards you could send to a loved one in honor of this most hallowed of days. My favorites are the Katie Cook cards. It’s a few days late now, but you can still send one!
If you aren’t up on all the books kids are reading these days, you need to check out the Tom Angleberger “Origami Yoda” series. The third book – Secret of the Fortune Wookiee – comes out in August, but Tom posted the directions on his Origami Yoda site to make the Chewbacca fortune teller on his site in honor of Star Wars day.
