NIS America Sets ‘Bunny Drop’ Anime Release Details

After announcing their acquisition of Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) for North American release at Anime Central over the weekend, NIS America has sent out the full release information with what fans can expect. The set is due out on august 7th with a DVD/BD combo set in a premium edition form that fans of their releases are familiar with. The eleven episode series will be Japanese language only with subtitles and will have two discs for each format for the whole run. The premium edition comes in a highly collectible sturdy slipcase with the hardcover art book depicting the various joys and tribulations Daikichi & Rin experience during their first year together and will be available at select online retailers: Right Stuf, The Anime Corner Store, Anime Pavilion, Anime Castle, and NIS

The set will contain several extras in addition to the art book which itself will run 28 pages worth of character information and artwork. It’s being titled “Rin’s First Year” with Daikichi. On-disc extras include the four bonus episodes and the clean opening and closing sequences as well as a commercial.

Plot concept: Daikichi, a 30-year-old bachelor, meets the 6-year-old girl Rin at his grandfather Souichi’s funeral. It is  there that Daikichi and his family learn that Rin is Souichi’s direct descendant. When the topic of who  would care for her comes up, the family shirks all responsibility of raising this “shameful” child. Reacting  emotionally, Daikichi declares his intention to take Rin into his home. This is the story of two very  different individuals coming together under one roof and learning what it means to be a family, an  experience that teaches Daikichi what it means to be a parent.
