Continuing what will only be seen as the disastrous approach to making superhero movies for the most part, DC Comics character Lobo is getting a shot at the big screen once again. The character, a comical response to the 80’s wave of grim and gritty comics, was put forward as a project under Guy Ritchie back in 2009 that ended up falling apart until now. As described at the time, the plot for the movie was that the film “will follow the seven-foot-tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavy muscled anti-hero who drives a tricked out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo then teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.”
Which brings us to 2012 and newly hired director Bray Peyton who has signed on to also rewrite the script in addition to directing it. Peyton comes off of the successful Journey 2: The Mysterious Island feature earlier this year with Dwayne Johnson. The Lobo feature has not said how much of what script will be kept, but it’s still got Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman producing.
