A panda, a koala and a penguin walk into a bar…

Fans of josei manga have a little more to look forward to this year as another series that had no firm date has now gotten one. The anime adaptation of the series Shirokuma Cafe, which runs in the magazine Flowers, has gotten a premiere date of April 5th as part of the Spring 2012 anime season. The manga is by Aloha Higa and began back in 2006, with three volumes published in Japan to date. The series, animated by Studio Pierrot, has the director behind Chi’s Sweet Home tackling it, Mitsuyuki Mashuhara, which feels rather appropriate. In the announcement via the official site yesterday, it was also revealed that the voice cast has been settled with Takahiro Sakurai as Shirokuma (Polar Bear), Jun Fukuyama as Panda, and Hiroshi Kamiya as Penguin

Plot Concept: Comedy anime about a polar bear that runs a cafe with 3 regulars: a panda, a koala, and a penguin.
