‘Boogiepop Phantom’ Gets New Priced Down Anime Release

2 min read

When Boogiepop Phantom came out, the folks at Right Stuf really did it right and showed their intentions how they’d do releases going forward with an eye towards quality packaging and design. It’s been quite a few years since the show first came out and we’ve seen a few editions of it, but now Nozomi is getting it out once again in a single keepcase form that fits with todays sense of style and standards. The new set will be released on June 5th for $29.99 using the original four discs inside of one single sized keepcase. It’ll bring all twelve episodes out again to a series that we called “addictive and moody” when we first checked it out.

Check out the technical details below as well as the full cover artwork.

The Boogiepop Phantom television series features animation by Studio Madhouse (Redline, Death Note, Batman: Gotham Knight), with direction by Takashi Watanabe (Slayers, Shakugan no Shana, Ikki Tousen, Lost Universe) and series concept by Sadayuki Murai (Millennium Actress, Kino’s Journey, Perfect Blue). Created by Kouhei Kadono, the acclaimed Boogiepop series spans more than 14 light novels, multiple light-novel spin-offs and two manga series, in addition to the animated television series and a live-action prequel movie (which is also available from Right Stuf’s Nozomi Entertainment).

Boogiepop Phantom aired on television in North America on the FUNimation Channel, Comcast’s Anime Selects, Anime Network, ImaginAsian and G4. Several of the novels and both manga are published in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.

Plot Concept: Five years ago, a string of grisly murders shook the city to its core. Now terror has returned, and this time it has a name: Boogiepop. Everyone knows about Boogiepop: death incarnate, she stalks the night in search of fresh victims. Meet her, and you simply… vanish. In the darkness, glass shatters and time stands still… There’s something out there, and it’s coming closer. Are you safe? The complete 12-episode TV series!
