Brian Taylor To Write/Direct ‘Twisted Metal’ Theatrical Movie

2 min read

Coming in the “it’s not a surprise” department this morning and one that you’d figure would have happened awhile ago, Sony is going forward with a big picture adaptation of its strong selling Twisted Metal gaming franchise and they’re bringing on Bryan Taylor. Taylor’s not exactly a household name but his work with Sony Pictures for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance has apparently earned him a seven figure deal to do up the Twisted Metal movie.  Avi Arad will be on board as a producer for it. The feature is expected to have some of the key characters from the game that have certainly been iconic in the gaming world such as Sweet Tooth and Doll Face.

Plot Concept: Like the game, the film will revolve around an underground event that pits a number of combatants in a fight to the death. They are outfitted in armored weaponized cars that are pimped out with heavy weaponry that includes missiles and machine guns. Some drop mines or launch electrical charges. The proprietor of the race is Calypso, a string-puller dedicating to examining the human condition, such as what makes a peaceful man violent, what terrifies a violent man and who will make a Faustian bargain in which they risk their lives. The sole survivor will get any wish granted.
