‘One Piece’ Gets Its Chess Game On

1 min read

One of the things that I really, really like that we get with a lot of pop culture media is chess pieces. Having been that guy that was in chess club in high school, I’ve certainly paid my dues with the game and continue to love it, but there’s something really fun and special when you get to use characters as pieces from your favorite shows, movies and books. The latest one to hit is one that’s really well done as One Piece gets the treatment from Megahobby. The Straw Hats are part of the new Chess Collection R release and the figures will be available with white and black bases for 683 yen each in blind boxes, making them something we’ll see a lot of on the convention circuit this summer. Time to find others to start buying in with you to do some collecting and trading. Check out the first blush images released so far below.

In addition to this, an unrelated figure is being released as part of the “World Scale”  line of the Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi this summer for 4,410 yen.
