Yesterday, we were able to restore the main site with the news and reviews from the past year after we managed to get more access on our new host, a hangover problem that was caused by our previous host and some naming issues. Today, we’ve managed to restore our forum software and all the posts, accounts, blogs and more. You can access those forums from the tab at the top of all the pages here as well as going directly to http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/forum.php
Our plan at the moment is to “run parallel” for a couple of days with the forum we did install this week, since there was a 50/50 shot that our restore was not going to work, if we were even going to be able to attempt it because of the backend issues. New content has shown there to be sure, and we want to give people a chance to make sure nothing is lost and can be re-posted to the original forums. We won’t be using the new forums past Sunday, when they’ll be shifted to read-only and eventually removed. There’s just too much invested in the forum we’ve run since starting the site, as well as subscriber accounts and add-on’s we’ve made that aren’t compatible at the moment.
We will be upgrading to the newer version of the software down the line a bit though as it does offer some good features (auto-save!). So expect that upgrade come February when hopefully everything will be much smoother, especially for myself as the medical stuff continues.
